Clean Electricity Investment Credit

On the federal level, the Department of Energy offers the Clean Electricity Investment Credit to taxpayers who implement or have implemented emissions-reducing and energy storage projects on a qualified facility before December 31, 2024. The credit is 30% of the project costs. The Clean Electricity Investment Credit is eligible for direct payment or transfer.

Customers can utilize this program to get partially reimbursed for projects that reduce emissions and energy efficiency. The Green Grid’s UL 9540A-tested LiFePO batteries and integrated solar input enable safe, code-compliant installation for commercial clean energy projects. For energy facilities that meet domestic content and labor requirements, the credit can cover over half of the project’s costs.

Residential and Commercial Energy Storage Grant Program

The State of Maryland has set aside $2 million for the year 2026 to finance the installation of energy storage systems on residential and commercial properties. For commercial installations, the program funds 30% of the total costs of the system up to $150,000. Projects that improve grid reliability and energy resilience are the focus. This two-step application is first Come, first serve.

The RCES Program is designed to support the deployment of energy storage systems for both residential and commercial customers across Maryland. The program aims to enhance grid reliability, increase energy resilience, and accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies statewide (MEA).

This program can be leveraged to install the Green Grid 90K at critical infrastructure and commercial facilities, like a small hospital, grocery store, or data center to provide seamless backup during grid outages. The system’s 90 kWh LiFePO battery and 20kVA continuous output ensures that refrigeration, medical devices, IT servers, and essential systems remain running. The Green Grid 90K can also be deployed to a community center, library, or school to serve as a neighborhood resilience hub during disasters.

Local Government Energy Modernization Program (L-GEM)

For 2026 only, Maryland is releasing $64 million in funds for energy efficiency and electrification projects for local governments. All counties and municipalities are eligible.

AOI1: Non-Competitive Grant for Planning and Implementation, divided between applying municipalities, funded $50 million (Counties Only), 3-year implementation period. 5%-10% cost share depending on county gdp per cap. $1 million minimum disbursement.

AOI2: Competitive Grant for Project Planning, up to $300,000 per project. Funded $3 million. $50-$300,000 in disbursements, 10% cost share.  24–27-month implementation period.

AOI3: Competitive Grant for Project Implementation (Non-Electrification), up to $1 million per project. Funded $7 million. 24–27-month implementation period.

AOI4: Competitive Grant for Project Implementation (Electrification), up to $1.5 million per project, 50% cost share. Funded $4 million, 24-27 month implementation period.

L-GEM will not cover expenses made before grant approval.

Applications due December 5th

Under the L-GEM initiative, counties and municipalities can finance the installation of integrated solar and energy storage systems at their facilities. Roof-top solar, for example, can be paired with the Green Grid 90K to lower energy bills and carbon emissions for government buildings. The Green Grid 90K can also be deployed as backup power for critical community locations such as emergency shelters, cooling centers, or public safety buildings in the event of an outage. These improvements enhance grid resilience, ensures continuity of essential services, and supports localized energy infrastructure modernization—key goals of the L-GEM initiative.
